From Airports to Lineups: Supporting Surf Travel in Indonesia

At Boraspati Express, partnerships have always been at the heart of how we work. For years, we’ve been collaborating closely with international surf travel agencies to make sure every trip in Indonesia runs smoothly—from the moment guests land to the moment they head home. We’re proud to work alongside surf agencies such as World Surfaris, Perfect Travel, Solis Travel, and other surf-focused operators who trust us as their local partner in Indonesia. Each agency brings its own style and global reach, while Boraspati Express provides the on-the-ground support that turns a surf trip plan into a seamless experience.

Behind every successful surf trip is solid logistics. Our role often includes surfboard handling, domestic flight coordination, luggage management, transfers, and problem-solving in remote destinations—things that don’t always show up in photos, but make all the difference when traveling across Indonesia’s islands. Our work is closely connected to some of the Sumatra most iconic surf regions, with regular support for expeditions to Nias Island, the Hinakos, Telos Islands, The Banyaks, and Simeulue—areas known not only for world-class waves, but also for their remote locations and logistical challenges. These are the places where local experience truly matters.

Beyond travel agencies, we’ve also built long-standing relationships with local Indonesian airlines, including Wings Air and Susi Air, working together for more than a decade. These partnerships are especially important for reaching remote surf destinations where timing, flexibility, and local knowledge matter.

For Simeulue, Susi Air currently operates flights between Medan and Simeulue every day except Sunday, making access to the island more consistent and flexible for travelers. While Susi Air does not carry surfboards on these flights, this is something we’re well prepared for. Boraspati Express can arrange surfboard transfers separately via overland transport and ferry, ensuring boards are transported safely. Please note that surfboard transport via ferry depends on the available ferry schedule, which is typically released at the end of the previous month. With years of experience handling these routes, we monitor schedule updates closely and plan board transfers accordingly, keeping both guests and partners informed throughout the process.

What makes these collaborations work is trust. Over the years, our partners have relied on Boraspati Express not just for logistics, but for local insight, clear communication, and dependable support. Whether it’s coordinating a tight flight connection, handling surfboards, or adapting plans on short notice, we’re there to make sure trips keep moving forward.

As surf travel continues to grow and evolve, we’re grateful to work with partners who share the same goal—creating well-organized, responsible, and memorable experiences for guests traveling through Indonesia. Together with our surf agency partners and local airline partners, Boraspati Express remains committed to being a reliable link between international travelers and Indonesia’s world-class surf destinations.
